Where: Meet at Riverdale Farm (Winchester St. / Sumach St.) at 2:00 pm

How to get there: Take streetcar 505 to Dundas St. E at Sumach St., then walk north along Sumach St. to Winchester St.

A walk led by Helen Mills from Lost Rivers Toronto along the Castle Frank Brook, mostly buried in the 70’s, through the Rosedale Valley.

Tree Walk in Park Drive Ravine March 17th 1:00pm

The ravine tree walk is taking place this Friday March 17th at 1:00 pm. We will meet at the parking lot of Evergreen Brickworks. If you are taking public transit, take the subway to Broadview Station and take the free shuttle bus (click here for bus schedule).

It will be a ~2-hour walk in the Park Drive Ravine including winter tree ID, old-growth tree ID and conservation, mapping biodiversity, etc.

Join us for a tree walk in the Rosedale ravines on St. Patrick’s Day!

This walk is co-hosted by the Toronto Ravine Revitalization Study, Canadian Institute of Forestry, UofT Forestry Graduate Student Association, and Ancient Forest Exploration & Research.

Walk components:

Tree ID & Mapping Biodiversity

Led by Eric Davies, the coordinator of our ravine team as well as a PhD candidate at UofT Faculty of Forestry. Eric received the Rising Star award of the 2016 Aster Awards for his contribution to urban forestry and native species conservation.

ID & Conservation of Old-Growth Trees

Led by Mike Henry, Peter Quinby, and Kevin Cowcill from Ancient Forest Exploration & Research. Founded in 1992, AFER is dedicated to the conservation of old-growth forests in Ontario.
